Analogic Corporation: The Imaging Solution for Homeland Security

Analogic advanced imaging equipments

Based in Peabody, Massachusetts, Analogic Corporation is a premier design and manufacturing company of advanced imaging equipment. Founded in 1967, Analogic specializes in medical imaging and aviation security technology. The company is ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971 certified to produce magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), digital mammography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), explosives detection, and baggage check systems. Analogic Corporation’s nearly half-a-century of experience in the advanced imaging field includes creating the world’s first instant imaging computed tomography system scanner, the world’s first airport security CT scanning system, and developing the first logarithmic analog-to-digital converter. Today, over 650 of Analogic’s EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACT) system are installed in airports worldwide. As the Transportation Security Administration’s choice for security solutions, Analogic Corporation has landed the following notable homeland security projects:
  • In 2014, the Department of Veterans Affairs granted Analogic a fixed-price contract for the maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of laboratory equipment.
  • In 2009, L-3 Security & Detection Systems awarded Analogic a US$16.1 million order for Explosives Detection Systems (EDSs)—primarily, the eXaminer 3DX and SX systems. The 3DX and SX possess smaller footprints than other baggage inspection systems, and feature the latest computed tomography (CT) technology which produces high-resolution, 3D, color images in real time.
  • In 2008, L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems granted Analogic a US$6.9 million contract for the eXaminer XLB (eXtra Large Bore) high-speed, automatic, inline baggage screening system. This contract is part of an overall US$10.5 million grant from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to L-3 to get the screening system operationally ready.
  • In 2006, John Wood, President and CEO of Analogic Corporation testified before Congress, the House Aviation Subcommittee, and the US House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on financing and deployment of explosives detection systems for airline passenger baggage.
  • In 2005, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) awarded Analogic a US$2.42 million contract to produce the next-generation checked baggage explosive detection system.
