Innova Helicopters Signs for Rolls-Royce RR300 Turboshaft Engines

Discussions have turned into a signed agreement between Innova Aerospace and representatives from Rolls-Royce at the Heli-Expo 2016 event for a technical development program aimed at certifying the RR300 turboshaft engine for the composite, single-engine helicopter, Innova C630. The agreement was legitimized by Executive vice president of corporate development for Innova Aerospace, Greg Fedele and Senior VP of helicopters and light turboprop engines for Rolls-Royce, Jason Propes.

Located in Auckland, New Zealand at the North Shore Airport, Innova Helicopters and privately owned Innova Aerospace have agreed to a 3-year contract to provide technical installation support to the C630 certification program. With an expected development phase of 2 to 3 years, the initial type and production certificates will be certified by the New Zealand CAA. The inception of this union started when representatives from each companies met in July 2011 at Oshkosh.

It was there that Rolls-Royce vice-president of customer business; Tim McGrath became convinced that the partnership between the 2 companies would be a match made in heaven.

We were impressed with the design of the helicopter and thought our engine would be a good fit,” he said. “That started the relationship.

And while Rolls-Royce is already preoccupied with the contract with Robinson Helicopter for their annual 100 RR300 engine commitment, McGrath anticipates no issues with increasing production rates in their efforts to accommodate the new agreement in place with Innova.
